My Scars Have a Story

What if the very wounds we have spent years trying to hide are actually the most powerful tools we carry? This message takes us deep into John chapter 20, where the risen Jesus appears to His disciples and does something unexpected: rather than dazzling them with heavenly glory or performing a dramatic miracle, He identifies Himself by showing His scars. That single moment reframes everything we think we know about pain, survival, and purpose. We explore the critical difference between a wound and a scar, and why that distinction matters so deeply for our faith journey. A wound is still open, still bleeding, still vulnerable to being reopened at the slightest contact. A scar, on the other hand, is evidence that healing has already begun. It is a wound that the body has worked to close. The message challenges us honestly and directly: some of what we call healed is still very much a wound, because true healing changes our behavior, not just our vocabulary. But for those who have genuinely walked through the fire, the scar is not a source of shame. It is a credential. It is proof that something tried to destroy us and failed. The invitation here is to stop covering up and start speaking up, because someone in our lives is waiting for exactly the story only we can tell.
