Don't Miss It!

Dec 7, 2025    C.A. Johnson

In a world where we're constantly connected yet spiritually disconnected, this powerful message confronts us with a challenging reality: we never miss a notification, a sale, or a social media update, but we've become comfortable missing church. Drawing from John 20:24-29, we encounter Thomas—not as a doubting skeptic, but as someone who simply wasn't present when Jesus appeared to the disciples. His absence cost him the experience of Christ's peace, proof, pleasure, purpose, and power. The text reveals that when the disciples gathered behind locked doors despite their fear, Jesus showed up in their midst, bringing transformation that could only happen in community. Thomas missed the breath of God, the commissioning, and the joy that filled the room. Eight days later, when he finally returned, Jesus met him exactly where he was, allowing him to touch the wounds and experience what he'd missed. This isn't about religious obligation—it's about positioning ourselves for divine moments. Throughout Scripture, God's most significant manifestations happen when His people assemble together. From Pentecost to the feeding of the 5,000, from Eutychus being raised from the dead to the Mount of Transfiguration, God shows up differently in the gathering. We're challenged to rethink our priorities: if we don't miss practice, games, or concerts, why have we normalized missing the very place where breakthrough awaits? The enemy thrives on isolation, but God designed us for community. As we move forward, the call is clear—don't miss the moment when God is ready to move in unprecedented ways.
