I Almost Slipped

This powerful message takes us through Psalm 73, where we encounter Asaph's honest struggle with a question many of us have wrestled with: why do the wicked seem to prosper while the righteous suffer? The sermon brilliantly walks us through three perspectives of spiritual ground - solid ground, slippery ground, and shouting ground. We begin with the theological anchor that God is good, a truth echoed by over 40 biblical writers across 1,500 years. Yet Asaph's honesty reveals something deeply human: he almost slipped when he looked at the prosperity, peace, pleasures, and pride of sinners. His perspective became distorted when he focused on what others had rather than on God's faithfulness. The turning point comes in verse 17 when Asaph enters the sanctuary. Everything changes in God's presence. What looked like success from the outside was actually destruction waiting to happen. The sanctuary reminded him that temporary success is not eternal security. This message challenges us to examine where we're standing - are we judging our lives from the outside looking in, or are we finding our perspective in God's presence? The beautiful truth is that even when our feet are slipping, God holds our hand. He doesn't wait for us to grab Him; He grabs us and won't let us fall. This is an invitation to come into the sanctuary, to get closer, because what we see from a distance will never compare to what we experience when we come inside.
